Hey. I have this trunk that I got handed down. It seems to be embossed metal with wood slates that have been painted green. The handles are leather and there are rollers on the bottom Im assuming used to move easily? I'm looking for information on its year, maker and anything else about it. Also wondering if I sell it what would I ask? Thank you!

This trunk has a noticeably domed top, so this is a dome-topped trunk, it is also called round top, humpback, camelback, monitor top, barrel top trunk. The term used by trunk makers was barrel stave or barrel top trunk. Round top trunks were made in a wide range of sizes and coverings, frequently of embossed tin.
Large fancy round top trunks became popularIn the late 1870s, because they were used by the wealthier people visiting the spas and racetrack at Saratoga Springs, New York. The Saratoga Trunk was a very large, domed top style with fancy trim, covered in either leather or metal. It is believed that the round tops were made for those who wanted to try to have their trunk packed on the top of baggage cars, so they would not be damaged. www.legacytrunks.com/
