The doll is marked 193/1500 on the back of its neck. The music box plays "Send In The Clowns". Music box is sewn in. There is a metal grommet on its clothes where the music box key goes thru. Any info you could give would be greatly appreciated.

I have bought a few of the porcelain clown or musical jesters for my mom in the past. I think I still have one of them and it is sitting in a drum or what looks like a drum and the jester is on top and plays music. The company mass produces these music boxes and when you see the number 193/1500 that means that the company has made 1500 of these same dolls and yours was the 193rd one produced by the company. I did take a look at the one I have here and there is no name on it at all. it just has the name of the company and the same type of information as you have. The one that is here right now that I am shipping off or back to the US has the number on it 18/2000. So you see the company mass produces these items. Even though it is a music box doll they are still not selling for top dollar. Most people are earning around $5-15 for normal dolls and ones with a music box in them seem to earn just a little more for theirs. The doll is worth around $15-25 tops.
Brinn made thousands of hundreds of different Jesters, especially in 1986 so you will find many styles listed for sale online.
Value is low due to the number available and no one style/size seems to be more popular - except that musical dolls with music 'Send in the Clowns' are more common and generally of lesser value.
Information about this particular doll:
Brinn; 'Musical Collectables' series
Dolls came in box with tag and certificate showing information of date/numbers made, Title of song, and usually a tag on the bottom of one shoe.
No names were assigned to dolls (that I've ever found).
Dolls in this series were usually 22" tall but different sizes in other series so most likely your doll is 22" tall.
Your doll is considered vintage as doll was made in Korea in 1986.
Hope this answers your question.
Nice doll to display.
On eBay this figure is being offered
at $28 to $ 100. www.ebay.com/
Brinns are sadly another doll that has not held any value in the resale market. The tall dolls (which I hope yours is) may occasionally sell in the $9-12 range.
The smaller dolls sit unsold on eBay as low as 7.00 for months on end.
Best to hold on and closer to the holidays try to sell. Maybe start in a local market at 19.00 and take best offer which could be as low as a few dollars.
Thanks for asking!!
