I am looking to put an age on this trunk I bought today. It is not in great shape, but I don't care. I just want to know when and where it was made.

You need to know who manufactured it. Look inside the trunk, on the bottom or on the back for some kind of marking or label.
Trunks are tricky as there are so many varities and variables, reproductions and redone versions.
This link sums up the challenges and offers some good insights and potential next steps.
There may be some type of marking or symbol on the trunk so that it can be identified in some manner. Without any marks/names it would just be luck if someone on this site knew anything about your trunk.
You might ask a question of this company but not sure if they are still answering questions or doing appraisals.

If it is really worth knowing (to you) then I would suggest you take some very good pictures (especially hinges) and pay $17 for an appraiser.
