Infrared Zone Heating System

Product Review: Infrared Zone Heating System by LifeSmart
Model No.LS-PP1800-6WCH

Our garage was converted into a den and during the winter, it was always the coldest room in the house. Every time I heard the house heater come on, I practically saw $$$ signs and would rather wear layers of clothing instead of keeping the house at a comfortable 76 degrees.

Before ordering this product, I did a lot of research and one of the main reasons I like it is, because it costs hardly anything to run and our home heater isn't working as hard. Besides heating up our den, it also heats up the kitchen and is now the warmest room in the entire house.

Not all heaters are created equal and the theory behind how Infrareds work can be found at:

I love how the actual heater does not get hot to the touch, which was a main concern since we have dogs. If the heater somehow got knocked over or in my case because I lost my balance and fell over it, it automatically shuts off. With wheels, it's easy to move about. It needs to be plugged into its own outlet or it will blow a breaker.

Last winter we used a smaller heater we had and it worked great, then I saw our electric bill was $250 higher than normal. I made it my mission to research heaters in general and the Infrared-heating was absolutely amazing.

The model we bought can supposedly heat up to 1800 SQ Feet and it's probably an over kill for our den but I am very happy with it. It doesn't replace our home heater, I guess it basically assists it and our den and kitchen areas are now very comfortable, to say the least.

The manual states you need at least 3 feet surrounding it. It took me all of an hour to get use to the hum it makes, which truly isn't that bad. It also comes with a remote control. I spent a good couple of weeks comparing prices before ordering from tigerdirect.com

I love the heater and am considering getting the smaller version for our bedroom. As I write this, it's 28 degrees outside and I'm toasty warm. If our house heater were to break down, the Infrared Heater would be more than enough to keep us warm until we got the house heater repaired. I am very grateful for this technology.

As an after thought I also read every review that I could find on it and know I made a well educated purchase.

A comfortable 76 degrees? My father used to keep his house at 72 degrees is the winter, and we all used to sweat when we visited there. Our house is a comfortable 66 degrees, and right now it's 18 degrees outside. Anyway, thanks for the info.

Thanks very much for the information, it sounds like something we need at our house because our furnace died. Right now we are just using our wood stove and it is getting expensive.

What is the cost of electricity to run your heater per month?

What is the brand of the heater? Did I miss that? Want to get one to replace having to have the blowing from the heater vents dry everything out! Sounds like the solution I was looking for. Thanks!

I just received the electric bill for December and I was expecting it to be $200 not to mention it had been very cold and it was also Christmas time.

My bill was $153 for December compared to November's bill being $150. Not to mention the weather was nice in November. My electric bill for December 2011 was $173.39 and it wasn't anywhere near as cold as it's been.

I am thrilled with the new heater and there are so many different brands. I went with LifeSmart and ordered it from tigerdirect.com with free shipping.

I very much dislike bait and switch. I was trying to order from TigerDirect.com. Just got your email today and was impressed, read reviews, Priced at 129 with free delivery. When I called they said "oh no, that free delivery ended this morning". PS. I cancelled.

I'm so sorry about your experience with tigerdirect.com, I
truthfully would of never written about the free shipping had I known but I just checked their website and I saw anything over $50 has free shipping. Perhaps you had a new employee, the product is well worth it and I would highly recommend calling again and ask to speak to a supervisor.

If all else fails, all the Infrared Heaters have the same technology and there are many companies that sell them.

After ours was delivered I started seeing them in stores around town. I saw a few at Aldi, Kroger, Home Depot and I believe my neighbor got his from Costco.

I guess it truly doesn't matter where you get it as long as it works. You may pay a little more or a little less if you buy it locally but if you had a problem it be so much easier to exchange.

I really didn't understand about the Infrared Heaters before I started and my product review is more about the actual product which is totally amazing. Once you find one that you like, take the time to read the reviews.

Yesterday it rained all day and I always towel dry my dogs when I let them back in. After drying Ginger, she sat right in front of the heater until it cycled off and then eventually fell asleep. What's that old saying about a picture is worth a million words.

On your recommendation, I went out and purchased this exact make and model heater. Last year my electric bill for this month was $162.07. After using this heater for a little less than a full month, my bill was $208.57.
