When I was a child my mother use to make a poor man's cake and she would put potato frosting on it. This frosting was not overly sweet, I have found a recipe for the cake. However, no one seems to have ever heard of potato frosting. It was mad with potato buds, but I do not remember the rest. I wonder if my mother made this up? Thank you for all help.

I found this recipe for chocolate frosting: www.cake-decorating-corner.com/
Well, this is a new one on me but I am sure it could be done.
I was a full time working mother and I remember when I first used instant potato granules (1950's) - I threw out the first package as I felt that I may be giving my family something "artificial". No Internet to investigate - how things have changed!
Yes I know this recipe my mother made a Christmas cake out of this potato icing we were amazed but it was so delicious. Think she had to use this during the war as she was a cook in the army.
