I just brought home a six week old female kitten. I have a four-year-old cat, who is also female, who is not impressed. I've kept them separated for a little over a week and offer visits only through the crate, I don't see much on here talking about two female cats getting along. Can somebody help me out?

Give each cat a blanket with the other cat's scent. Make sure each cat has alone time with you. Invest in a perch so the resident cat can be higher up and demonstrate dominance.
Hi,
My best suggestion is what I used to do with all my cats. I would put any new kittens in a ferret condo ( you can find cheap ones on amazon or ebay for under $100.00).
I would always put the new kittens in the ferret condo. They would stay in there. The ferret condo would be in the middle of wherever the other cats are the most active. In my case, it was the dining room.
They would be terrified at first. By the next day, they were still not willing to come out of hiding. By the third day, they were interested, and by the fourth day they were crying to come out.
Interestingly, we moved, and I don't have the old ferret condos. The time it took for my daughter's new kitten to get used to the male adult cat, was approximately 6 to 7 months.
I always make it a point to praise them when they are near one another. Don't discourage hissing or rough housing. But when they are behaving nicely, tell them they are being so sweet.
I would love to know how long it will take for your two cats to finally become bonded!
Blessings,
Robyn
Good advice from Robyn. On Amazon you can get a good sized pop up pet playpen for around 30 dollars. My cats like them. I just finished the introduction for my new female kitten and my daughters female cat who will stay with me occasionally. In total it took about 5 months. We would get them together a few times a month with the the older cat (the visitor) in the playpen. Lily would visit for a day at a time. She would hang out in the playpen (with a litterbox of course) and the kitten would sniff and hiss and occasionally dive bomb the playpen.
I locked adult cat in the bathroom with water and a litter pan to give kitty time to explore, about three to four hours and leave her scent all over the house and smell older cats smell.
then I sprayed a dab of MY perfume on my HANDS then rubbed both cats.
Keep a big piece of cardboard handy in case you need to separate them, then turn em loose. They couldn't smell each other so fuzzed up and jumped when they finally met. Older one jumped the younger one, younger one rolled onto her back and nailed the older one with the back feet. They chased and played and never got nasty. but also never "buddied up" unless the house was freezing.
