I was recently given a 4/5 month old puppy, by my grandfather, who I named Jade. I was wondering if she was a purebred GSD or mix? She is a very beautiful dog, big ears, big muzzle, strong build yet underfed in the pictures which was the first day I got her. I was told that she looks like a purebred GSD and I do think so also. Jade and I grew on to each other quickly, she is a very friendly, yet shy dog, very smart and loyal. Jade is a very shy and timid girl, and absolutely hates being on a leash.

She may be, but there is no way of telling without a DNA test. It doesn't really matter unless you are planning on breeding her.
We have had 5 G/S dogs and Jade sure looks like a pure bred. She is just beautiful. She will be fine as she socializes with other people. Give her time A week is not long enough. When we rescue a dog, we have no idea what they have been through. Just love her and be patient.
I did a DNA test on my rescue dog. It was called Wisdom Panel (cost $60 or so). It comes with two little long handled brushes to swab the inside of the dog's cheeks. The brushes are placed in a pouch and returned to the Company. Your results come back in 2 weeks via a computer download. I'm still not convinced that it was accurate. But the accompanying information on canine genetics was very interesting.
