It is difficult to tell if a dog is full breed or not, especially at this age.

Step 1
Your puppy will need to start a series of shots to protect her against the Parvovirus and other sicknesses a small dog can get.

Step 2
Make an appoint at your local vet to start her series of shots.

Step 3
When at the vets inquire about a DNA test. The test will tell you if the dog is pure breed or mix breed.

Step 4
Before doing the test find out the price of this test. The vet can be expensive and it is better to ask before doing the test.

Step 5
If the test is too expensive go home and look on Amazon. Purchase a home DNA kit and do the test yourself.

Its very hard to tell from this photo at this young an age. At this point, a dna test will help. Or you can come back when it has more growth and muscle definition for our opinion :)

It looks the same to me. Does it matter or are you just concerned you were charged for something you didn't get?

So cute! Did you purchase this as a pure pit bull or was it a gift? A pure pit bull will almost always have certified papers because they are an expensive breed if truly pure bred. Even unregistered pits who have parents available to see will cost from $200 - $250.

Step 1
Puppies change rapidly in looks and temperament from the age of 6 weeks to one year and even experts have a difficult time trying to identify a pit as being "full blood".

Step 2
No one can tell for sure about the mix without a DNA test. Vets may make a better "educated" guess than a layperson but it is still a guess.

Step 3
DNA tests are popular now because the cost has come been reduced but the test kits will still cost $55 to $200 and more. Usually the cost is based on how many breeds are in the test so unless you are a breeder a smaller number would usually give very good results.

Step 4
DNA test kits can be purchased from most pet stores, on-line (Amazon, eBay, etc.) and from a vet.

Step 5
Here is a link that explains all about DNA tests and the second link is for an example of a DNA test kit for sale on-line.

Since your puppy is only 6 weeks old please be sure you follow correct guidelines and take her for health checkups and shots/vaccinations. Here is a link that give information on first year recommendations.
