Is My Dog a Pitbull?

A small dog asleep on a bed.I'm not sure whether my dog is a pure Pit Bull or not. The breeder who gave him to me told me both parents were Pits. But didn't anything like him. Also I couldn't find pictures of Pit Bulls looking like him without being possibly mixed with something else. I am just curious.

Only a DNA test can tell you the breed for sure. Contact your vet or a vet school for pricing. DNA tests at vet schools are less expensive, as usually you only pay for the test, and not the vet fee.

At such very small age, it's very difficult to tell if there is a mix or not. I'm afraid that only a genetic testing can help you: www.hartz.com/.../

He is young ,but has some characteristics that can be seen for his age. The more he ages, his features will come in.

I think it could very well be purebred. You could ask the vet and have a DNA test done.

Looks like a bundle of love to me.
I believe he is too young to be able to see any true breeds but probably mixed. he resembles an American Pit Bull Terrier Boxer mix; generally called a Bullboxer.

"The Bullboxer Pit is a mixed breed dog -- a cross between the Boxer and American Pit Bull Terrier dog breeds."
Only time will tell as size and weight along with body build when he is older will be factors. General size for this mix when grown:
Height:
16 to 20 inches
Weight:
50 to 80 pounds
Here is some information but most suggestions are really premature:

A DNA test can be helpful as it not only provides information about the breeds but also future health information. Kits usually start at about $65 and can be found online, pet stores and vets.

The most important thing for your pup is to be very sure he receives all of his first year shots/vaccinations to hopefully keep him safe from all of the diseases and germs floating around everywhere.

Hope you will be able to share many happy years together.

Its really too young at this point to b positive without doing a DNA profile. He does have the looks of a pitbull or a pitbull mix. He kinda reminds me of a Blackmouth Cur Dog. But the two breeds often resembles one another. Both great dogs loyal, loving, and protective. Ive myself have had the pleasure of having the pitbull breed and the blackmouth cur in my life for over 35 yrs n i wouldnt ever change my mind about the breed as a dog lover /owner. Ive seen ever pure breeds look like a mix. But i would think he has pitbull blood. Sweet lil pup...sooo cute.

Your pup is 100% adorable!! It is too soon to tell, for 100%. We had a neighbor for a brief time with a pup that looked a lot like yours when it was very young and they told us their boy was beabullbox. The bea is beagle, the bull is bull dog, and the box is boxer.

Wishing you and your pup a lifetime of fun and adventures!!
