I am buying a dog tomorrow and they tell me that she is a full blooded pit.
There are no papers. How can I tell?

The only way you could tell is with some sort of DNA doggie test, if she does not have papers. And even under those circumstances, the sort of people to whom a pedigree is important require papers to prove parentage, that they came from a good breeder, etc.
From the looks of him he is pit bull, though I'm not sure that the multiple colour is a good breed standard. It looks like a merle, which is not AKC acceptable for some reason. Mainly because it can be a cross between a pit and a leopard dog. www.reference.com/
