Does anyone know what type of critter likely built this?

This could be an egg sac from a western lynx spider. The egg sac of this spider is disk shape like the one I am seeing here. The egg sac is normally covered in the web from the spider to protect it. Once the eggs hatch inside the egg sac the babies will live inside the egg and sac for the first month. After this, they will start to bite their way out of the nest like you are seeing here.
