After hearing our two large dogs barking off and, on all night, I found a young adult, not neutered, male dog, shivering and very frightened out on our front porch. It had been very cold that night and we just had the first freeze warning. His ears were very cold to touch.
I love dogs and seeing how terrified and cold he was, just broke my heart. It was very obvious that someone had taken great care of him. He was very clean and only had a white flea collar on. I could see by the ruffle on his neck that he also at one time had worn a collar that had been removed.
He wanted to come inside and was very afraid of us. It took a while to get him in the front door then I crated him. I didn't want our two dogs to scare him more than he already was.
From the first time they met, they welcomed him into our family. It's like he has been with us his entire life. I'm talking a matter of minutes from finding him on our porch at 6 AM.
Forty-eight hours later, he was wagging his tail and very much a part of our family. He was still unsure of himself, was overly cautious but was doing so much better.
I suspect he must have had an elderly owner due to the fact he was very well behaved, housebroken and well taken care of. He acts a lot older than what he is. Overly polite and has no idea how to play or what dog toys were.
He's part of our family now and we're grateful.

What a sweet story. I'm so glad you brought him inside and saved him from the cold. I hope he has found his forever home but I would make sure to check for a chip when you take him to the vet, to see if there is an owner who is frantically looking for him.
How wonderful to read a story like this.
Hopefully, his owner will reach out for him, but it's comforting to know that he has a loving home if he was abandoned.
