My reverse stitch button stopped working. Is this something I can repair?

The spring or lever that engages the button may be stuck or broken. Oil it first. Hopefully it is just stuck.
I would remove the cam inside the machine and check to see if there is any type of thread or something that is not allowing the lever to engage and stitch backwards. Do a good cleaning of the machine and add some oil. Then check again. If this continues you may have a broken piece in the machine that needs to be replaced.
My go to for repairs these days (and I am not handy) is YouTube.
There are a bunch of Janome videos out there:

Hopefully one will point you in the right direction. Post back with an update!
