Janome Artistic 26 Intermittently Stops Stitching?

I use the the Quilt Motion software for most of my quilting and sometimes when it gets to a stop and then goes to continue, it is like the machine is moving, but the needle does not start as it should. I then have skipped stitches which I redo. When it is in one of those moments, the controller on my machine won't do the jog stitch. The lights are on, but the machine does not respond. Is it a problem with the motor or do you think it is a problem with the controller? Please give me some things to check. I am quite handy with repairs. Thanks a lot.
