This is a popular sweet treat from Japan that falls under the sandwich category because it is assembled like one. The outcome is more of a cake, and it is so refreshing and delicious. We like to have these for afternoon tea. It's so easy to make, it's a great all-ages recipe.
In Japan, we use "shokupan" which is milk bread. You can use any fluffy white bread for this. I used kiwis and strawberries, but you can use any fruit you like: mangos, peaches, bananas, mandarin oranges. I added a top layer of cream and fruit to present it like mini cakes, but you can just leave it as the sandwich and cut it in half or into quarters, if you like.

Your Japanese Fruit Sandwiches are VERY-VERY pretty and tasty looking too! :)
Thank you for this recipe also. :)
You're welcome! They are my parent's favourite. You don't even realise you're eating bread when it's done. It is just like cake!
Hi Attosa,
Yes, I thought that when I saw the bread, that the whipped cream spread on it would completely make the bread taste just like cake, yummy!!
Yummm....!
