I am looking for a cobbler recipe like my mother made 70 years ago. She made a dough and rolled it out, put peaches and other stuff on it, rolled it up and sliced it like a jelly roll. It was baked in a deep dish with a sugary sauce over "jelly roll type" cobbler servings.
I have tried winging it, but have not come close.

This recipe is from Cooks.com.
Jelly Roll Type Cobbler Pie
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. baking powder
Dash of salt
1/2 c. sweet milk
Filling:
2 c. fruit
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. juice or water
1 stick butter
Dissolve the sugar in the juice or water. Combine enough juice and water to make 2 cups. Melt butter in 9 x 12 inch pan. Roll out the dough, spread it with fruit, then roll up jelly roll style and cut in 1 inch sections. Lay the pieces, cut side up, on the melted butter. Bake at 400 degrees until lightly browned and bubbly - about 20 minutes.
Note: Fruit used may be any kind; either fresh, frozen or canned. For fruit which is already sweetened, the above amount of sugar is correct. However, if fruit is not sweetened, sprinkle about 1/2 cup sugar over the spread fruit before rolling the dough.
