My yoga studio set up a jewelry swap in November for costume jewelry. You put your contributions in a basket and can take out what you want. I got two very nice pairs of earrings and two bracelets. The picture shows a sample of what I received.
This idea could work for toys, clothing, accessories, perfume, or anything else. What is one person's trash is truly another person's treasure!

We do something similar at work. We started with a cellphone swap. That was followed by a banana swap. Then last month, we had a wig swap. And in keeping with the spirit of the holidays, we're ending the year with an underwear swap. These swaps are great because it really builds team spirit and you can end up with a new wardrobe without spending any money.
