I have a 1979 John Deere 112 riding mower. It is not getting a spark. I tried changing the plug, but it still won't fire.

A few things to check on your mower.
- You have changed the spark plug, but did you change the solenoid?
- Solenoids can go bad and need changing. If the mower has sat during the winter, it is a good idea to change this.
- If a new solenoid doesn't help, you will need to change the ignition switch.
- Check the 12V coming from the solenoid to see if you have a current running through.
- If not you will need to change the starter assist relay also.
