My John Deere lawnmower will barely turn over. I put in a new battery, starter, and solenoid! Any idea what could be the problem? It would run fine after I got it started, but it will not turn enough to even start now!

Here are a few things that can cause the tractor to not start.
Same problem and I'm 99% sure it was old gas due to my mother never servicing it. The LA115 is currently at 299 hours. I replaced the inline fuel filter, air filter and sponge behind filter, oiled all the pulleys (since they wouldn't engage initially), wd-40'd what I couldn't physically reach, and put a full tank of new gas in it. Still wouldn't start so I changed the plug which was seriously rusted and obviously old. Again no go. It turns over great but just won't catch. I am now at the point where battery started to sound slow so I gave up. I have changed a carb on a push mower and assume it is the same for a rider but would that be the next logical step? Otherwise how do I clean the rest of the bad gunk out of the engine?
I would start by checking the fuel tank, line, and filter. Having old fuel can clog the filter, not letting your mower turn over.
