My John Deere LA145 riding mower died without warning in the middle of mowing. It will not crank to restart as if it isn't hooked to a battery. I replaced the battery a few lows ago and it worked perfectly until now. I've wiggled all the wires, checked the safety switch, checked gas, unplugged and replugged the spark plugs and checked the fuse. Please help!

This sounds like an issue with the alternator in the mower. It appears that the alternator has gone bad which has drained the battery and now it won't start again. Please test the new battery you have installed. Make sure the battery is correctly charged. if not then you have an alternator problem and you will need to get a new alternator. Also, check the selenoids on the mower. Make sure they are in good working condition. Also, take the spark plugs out and clean them. Check to see if they need replacing. If you are not finding an issue in these areas then check your starter. Make sure it is good and does not have an issue. If you are not getting a spark to the engine on the mower this indicates that you have a bad battery, a bad alternator which has drained your battery, a bad selenoid or even bad spark plugs.

I would suggest you take your battery to one of the auto parts stores in your area and ask them to check the battery. They have testers that can tell if it is bad or if something is slowly draining it.
They might have some suggestions about what could be the problem and give some suggestions on what to check.
It would be better if you took the lawn mower for them to check but that may be too much trouble.
Once you get the battery problem sorted out you may want to check over the list of yearly maintenance items to check or replace so your mower can stay in top running shape.
So many times people leave old gas in their mowers and this causes big problems and some never think about replacing gas and air filters - big mistake.
