Can I get an AARP card for my son, who is over 50, and isn't part of my household, or does he have to join on his own?

Years ago, when I was in my 20s, I signed my father up for AARP, by simply paying for it and putting his name in as the member. I don't see why you couldn't do the same thing for your son.
