My Juki sewing machine foot pedal has suddenly stopped working. I have had the machine 4 years. To be fair, it has had a lot of use over the past 3 months. Will the lead that goes into the foot pull out? It doesn't come out naturally with a bit of a pull. I could unscrew it and take a look? I am not really sure what I'm looking for though.

These are beautiful machines.
It may be better if you contact Juki first as they are usually very helpful and they will either lead you through the process of what is causing the problem or they will send you instructions.
Please, do this first, it may save you a lot of time and headache.
Usually when searching for problems you check to make sure it is the foot pedal. This is done by unplugging the foot cord and check the power (without the foot pedal). If that is working okay then you know for sure your problem is the foot pedal itself.
Of course, (although I do not recommend this action) one person said they slammed the foot pedal on the floor and it started working (which means there was something wrong with the wiring but probably was not a permanent fix).
Most people will say if it is an older machine then you should just purchase a new foot pedal - however - these can be expensive so you might want to check the pedal first.
If you are so inclined you take the pedal apart (be sure it is unplugged) (usually a few screws) and look for burnt or disconnected wires. These can sometimes be repaired and there are several YouTube videos that will show you how to do this as it will usually be the same type of repair for any brand of machine.
You can also try taking the foot pedal to one of your auto repair shops and see if they can help you. I use their expertise all the time and have always found them to be very helpful - and, they always have the right tools on available.

You do not say what model machine you have but you might find some information on your specific model here. Some links will be for repairs.

The lead to any foot pedal will not pull out and you should not try and tug on this wire or try to force it to come out. The first thing you should check is the connection to your machine. Make sure that you have this connected correctly. When you turn on the machine does the light come on or not? If the light comes on you are getting current to the sewing machine so this means there is a contact problem. If you decide to take the cover off the foot pedal you will be looking at some wires. These wires are the leads to the electric cable.
It depends on the age, If it is new and has a computer circuit board or chip in it, than you need to take to a repair shop. If mechanical- wires may be loose or split, you will need to fix/replace the cord.
Hi,
I would agree with contacting the manufacturer, to ask them questions, before anything else. Other options would be to compare the costs of repair with buying a new machine
I will probably be buying a sewing machine before long. It has been ages since I have sewed anything on a machine!
Have a wonderful day!

If your machine is an HZL model. It should have a stop/start button. If you unplug the foot pedal and use this button. You will eliminate the foot pedal as the issue.
