Keep Emergency Account Numbers in Your Cell Phone

Silver Post Medal for All Time! 255 Posts

Have you ever noticed that when the power goes out, it always seems "extra dark", even if it occurs during the day? Almost makes it impossible to look up the number for the power company in the phone book.

My solution is to save the power company phone number in my cell phone, then under the name I have abbreviated the power companies name, followed by my account number.

No more straining my eyes in the dark, or having to take the phone book or a bill outside to read it with the car lights, it's all in my phone.

This is a good idea for anyone to keep in mind! I did the same thing several years ago, when we had several outages in just a few months & couldn't find the phone book- big help!

I also have in my cell phone: the emergency # for the gas Co.(I've been somewhere I smelled gas & needed to call).
The non-emergency # for the police(I've had to call them when something's not quite an emergency but needs to be reported).

I even have the # for the transportation dept. for our school's buses. I've called them several times when I've seen things going on with the bus that the driver didn't catch - kids throwing things out the window at cars, tossing trash, flipping people off, cussing at them at stoplights, etc.

I've also reported bus drivers for speeding 50 mph through my neighborhood, speeding in school zones (?), cutting corners & nearly running over the top of my car, running red lights, etc. But to be fair I've also reported drivers many times when I see them doing something good, don't remember what off-hand, but the dispatcher & manager are usually pretty shocked to get a call about something good for a change, seems like I'm the only one who does that!

Yes, I also have a memory card in my phone, so if I ever get a new phone it is all still there. Also keeping a PIN # that is hard to remember under the name Pinny or Penny is a smart idea using a 10 digit number and the last 4 being the pin#.
