Air is what turns guacamole and fresh avocados brown. After you open a package of guacamole or cut an avocado open, wrap it tightly with plastic wrap. Make sure no air can get in. If it came in a cardboard box as well, put it in there, too. No more unappetizing guacamole!

I worked and lived in Mexico for a number of years. I learned a long time ago to squeeze a little fresh lime juice over my avocado or in the guacamole. This keeps it from turning brown. But you are right sealing it in an air tight container helps too.
