I change water in two glasses by the season. Right now they are red and blue. But they seemed to be evaporating really fast. So today, I refilled and re-colored them, and made some plastic disks to sit on top of each.
You just need the right size, in this case, and spice lid. Then came a paper template.
Then it was cutting the plastic and placing it on the newly filled glasses.
Now we will see how long it takes. My guess is it will be a lot slower!
N-JOY!

UPDATE: Today has been over a week since I put these disks on. They are working great!!
I have many whiskey bottles and wine decanters with lids in my windows. I have them all with orange water- change water every fall. put a few layers of cling wrap over jars and decanters and then screw down the lids.
Send us a picture! I also often decorate with reycled bottles and colored water. I got these little square bottles that were sampling a ginger vodka. I think they were on sale. I took a row of these and put them in my small bathroom window. I'd change the colors to match the seasons. I'll have to look for a picture now.
