However, if you'll float a small board in such a container, the fowl will be able to climb up on the wood and save themselves.

How very true. I lost my favorite squirrel in my cows water tank. How he must have suffered.

'A positive genius' - I love it. I'm applying that one anytime I can henceforth. So true, water can be such a danger. Great thought to provide for escape.
