When I repot my plants, I cut up a diaper into four sections, eliminating the parts that do not retain the water. I place one of these sections in the bottom of the pot and than pour some dirt in and plant as usual.
This works especially well for hanging plants where the wind whips the moisture right out of the soil. With this method, you do not have to water as much!
