Take a very long sheet of tinfoil and crunch it up. Carefully pull it out into a long length, gently twisting it as you go. It should start looking like a very long, round, thick, silver snake.
Next on whatever your feeder is hanging from, anchor your snake. This can be done however you choose, as long as it is secured near your feeder. Wrap your foil snake around, up, down, and back through as if you were tying a knot. This will ensure it stays on through bad weather.
It helps to use the longer type of foil in heavy duty. Don't be stingy with your foil. If you start out with at least 10 feet, threading it around and back through, it will stay on for a long time. It tears easily so be gentle as you twist, pull, and tug it into place where you want it. It works even better on tree limbs if your feeder is hanging from a tree branch.
