If you have a fenced in yard, a long leash, plenty of food and water and bearable temperatures I would reluctantly say yes. Otherwise I would say no. A dog needs companionship.
Dear Reluctant, If a puppy will be crated for 7 hrs while owners are at work, wouldn't it be better for the dog to be outside in a fenced yard?
I have one dog that is an outside dog. He was raised in our yard. But I live in the tropics and there isn't a lot of cold weather here for the dog.
If you want to keep this poor puppy outside all the time then you'll need to buy it a dog house and a bed. He will need a place to go that is out of the rain or snow if this applies in your area. Being so small this dog will cry all the time.
You might want to consider finding this dog a new home. If you don't want the dog in your home and only want to keep it in the yard maybe the dog is better off in a different home. Just a suggestion.
I am so sorry. It sounds like you have not been given a good option here. A puppy that age can't take care of itself outside. It cannot adjust to the weather, it cant avoid other critters that may want to harm it, it doesnt know the road isnt a safe place.
Puppies little bodies and feelings, are truly just like little children.
They need comfort, security and lots of love.
A 7 week puppy shouldnt even be separated from its mom. Why have a dog if you cant care for and protect it properly
Keeping a puppy outside.
Step 1
I would say no it is not safe anything could happen to him.
Step 2
Plus a dog or puppy needs companionship there is no sense in having a dog if he has to stay outside all the time.
