I have a Kenmore model 1345 and it was working great. I unplugged it to start again the next day, but when I plugged it in the light would not go on. Nor would the machine start when I pushed the foot pedal. I tried a different outlet, but that did not correct it. Did the light just burn out or what? I am in the middle of a project and need to finish. What other problem could this be besides the light which I have never changed?
Thanks.

It sounds like you have a short in your electrical cable that is plugged into your machine. Check the place where you need to plug in your foot pedal right next to the on and off switch. Make sure this is plugged in correctly and making a good contact. Try again to turn on the machine. Machines will run if the light bulb is burned out so this is not your issue at all. I have had that issue in the past when I put in the connection to the foot pedal and then plug the machine into the outlet the machine won't turn on. I have to check my connection to the machine and push it in again to make sure I have a really good contact then the machines will turn on and run for me.

Hopefully you have found what is causing this problem and all is well but if not solved yet maybe you can ask your question on a sewing forum. This site will walk you through each step in finding what is causing your machine to not run.
Your machine is not a fancy one so it should not be a problem to troubleshoot it.
Does your machine have an on/off switch? Sometimes this switch wears out and has to be replaced.

Sears Service Center (your zip code) may also help you - find your shop and take your machine to them. Ask to have it checked while you wait as you do not want to have it serviced - just order any parts you need as you can find YouTube videos to replace parts.
