The needle on my Kenmore sewing machine, model #38515518000, was not moving after I heard a click sound like some part is broken near the hand wheel.
I opened the hand wheel and found it broken. I replaced it with a new hand wheel that I got from Sears Direct USA and that fixed it. The needle moves with the hand wheel now. The belt is OK, but the needle does not move when I run the motor. It looks like the wheel on which belt is running is freely moving and not engaging the rod on which it is attached.
I want to repair this myself since the value of this 2nd hand machine is much less than the cost for having it repaired at a shop. I would appreciate if you know of a video on this kind of repair.
Thanks.

YouTube has many videos. Here is one. m.youtube.com/
Since you have just purchased your part from Kenmore (Sears) you may be able to get assistance from their repair shop.
Sadly, most Sears stores are closing but I believe I read where their repair shops may remain open - at least for a while.
Sounds like you may need guidance going through the steps to check for problems.
Google Sears Service Center with your zip code and see if there is a shop near you but no matter if not; just call them and ask your question. My center people have always been very helpful so I hope yours will be also.
You may be able to get assistance from Sears parts also:

This is also a forum that answers questions so check it out if nothing else works.

Thanks ,I will try to find out shop near me if sears still have.Looks like either I haven't been able to fix hand wheel properly or big wheel on which belt is running is not engaging shaft
Please try to reach someone soon as some Sears stores are already closed and that means their repair shops may close also but I hope not as they have helped me with appliance problems for many years.
