I have a Kenmore 385, it runs, and moves material, but doesn't stitch. What can I do please?

Try giving it a good cleaning inside- use paint brushes, compressed air, q-tips, whatever you need to reach the moving parts. Next, oil the machine according to owners manual. Then put in a bobbin with new thread wound on it, install a new needle, and make sure you have threaded the machine correctly. Adjust thread tension as well as bobbin tension. If it still isn't stitching, it is time for a professional to diagnose the problem.
I have an older Kenmore model 96 - all metal construction in a cabinet and cams that drop into the top for different fancy and utility stitches. As long as I clean it inside on a regular basis and keep it oiled, the only thing I've had to buy for replacement is new belts - 2 of them in 44 years. You couldn't GIVE me one of the newfangled electronic machines...just too many things to go wrong with them. My old reliable has: mended everything under the sun, made new clothes for babies to adults, sewn curtains, slip covers, quilts, vinyl footstool covers, camera tripod case, even a double quilted guitar case. It has NEVER let me down....something to be said for the older sewing machines.... reliability !!
Good luck !
Make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly.
