Your Pet's Age
This is Kibbles. My kids named her after Kibbles and Bits. She's about 10 weeks old in these pics! She hadn't been weaned long. They generally quit nursing from their mothers at around 8 weeks old. There are generally 3 different color Labrador Retrievers which is the full name of this breed, but most common nickname is a Lab, yellow, chocolate, and black.

How and when did you get your pet?
A relative's Lab had the puppies and she was given to my children. Alaina is my 5 yr old little girl and Charlie my boy is 7. We have had her since last summer. The kids love her very much. She's actually becoming quite the watch dog too. She barks at anything that isn't supposed to be around the house. Alaina and I were having a ball when I took these pics.
What does your pet like to do for fun?
Play, run after the kids chasing them. She chews on things a lot, another very common trait in a Labs, even more so than in most breeds. It's so cute really. We got a kitten around the time we got her and they were left out on the porch together so they got to where they play together all the time, even sleep together. It's amazing watching them grow together! Lol.
Do you have anything else to share about your pet?
Some interesting things I didn't know much about this breed of dog until we got her are as follows: Labradors are used as seeing eye dogs for blind patients and therapy dogs for some autistic children. The military as well as police forces have used the Labrador Retriever for years to track and trace thieves, smugglers, and crooks involved in the black market. They are also one of the best breeds of hunting dogs. They can generally home in on any scent and usually don't stop until they have tracked what they are after. Their fur or coat is also water resistant to a certain extent! The first Labrador Retriever to be recorded was back in the late 1800s. The breed originated on the island of Newfoundland just off the coast of Canada where they were actually named after a place there, Labrador. They spread and became very popular all over England. They are now one of the most popular breeds of k9s in both England and the US. Now I know why! I had no idea that these dogs were so valuable to people in so many ways. They have changed so many lives. She has benefitted our family and lives in so many positive ways! She's just like part of the family to us, we all love her very much and if you're in the market for a good natured, watch dog, or family pet a Labrador is definitely a breed to consider.

What a sweetie your are, Kibbles!
My lovely girl Lacy passed last summer at the age of 15 -16 (not sure as she was a rescue) and I still miss her sweetness every day! Thank you for sharing your lovely girl!
