I have an old house with golden pine floors that I'm refinishing. The woman at Lowe's recommended painting the old cabinets black to bring out the natural colors of the pine. I found gorgeous dark green granite-look countertops for free. So all I need to decide on is paint colors for walls and trim. I'm totally at a loss except maybe to see if they can isolate a color from the countertop for the trim and then just use a very pale version of that for the walls. Suggestions?

You could go with a very very pale teal green or soft buttery cream. If you plan to use wallpaper border at top of wall; you could choose a color that compliments walls from paper print. I'd go to a wallpaper store and look at prints that have what is in your kitchen even if you do not use any wallpaper; but just so you get a lot of color combination ideas using what you already have in place.
