I painted my living room walls, coffee with cream. I also have a dark sofas and also a tan brown sofa. I painted my chimney light grey. I have an arch that my husband decided to paint Cherry Cola.
I have these curtains that are tan with brown. I want to paint my kitchen that's connected to the living room by the arch. What color should I paint my kitchen? Please help me decide on what colors will go good.

If I had all those sombre colors, I would be wanting to add some colors of interest. I think I would paint the kitchen the same light grey as the chimney, then incorporate at least two colors in both the living room and kitchen to create a sense of continuity between the two rooms.
The panels I have created show your (approximate) colors along with colors of interest.
Panel 1-wild
panel 2-conservative
Panel 3-Moderate
Panel 4-Sweet and Charming
You can stay with tone on tone or add a pop of color but not too much. 3 colors is the rule so you have brown, tan and one more.
There should be no hard and fast rule applied to style, as it changes much too often to be restricted by such. As has been quipped by many an interior decorator and fashion designer, " To be completely in style, one must be a little out of style".
The lady did ask for suggestions, not rules. Panel # 2 bears witness to obsolescence of such a rule.
