Kitchen and Dining Room Paint Color Advice?

Kitchen and Dining Room Paint Color AdviceI loved this red wall for a while, and now am tired of it. I am having a pantry installed and thought it would be a good time now to paint while waiting for the doors to dry. I would like a color to paint the living room and kitchen so that the rooms will flow together. As you can see, I have an abundance of woodwork and I have a hard time choosing wall paint colors.

I am not a fan of white, although my husband loves it and the oak cabinetry. My living room furniture is a red/maroon leather and I do not have a lot of wall space to paint in that area. The pantry is a cream color, SW Masion Blanche, though it looks more white in the photo. I was thinking about a gray green color. I bought a sample of SW Chatroom and really like it, but not sure. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you.

The color you're most comfortable with is the one to go with, irregardless of what others might suggest. If you like the gray green color, go for it !!! It's only paint and if you don't like it, you can always change to something else. I suggest that you only paint one wall to start with and leave it for a few days to see if you love it or hate it. Why wait to see if it 'grows on you'; it's too time consuming.

Your pics are too dark to see what colors are in your curtains. Is there a color that you can pick from the curtains to bring everything together? Personally, I like bold colors and I'm not afraid to use them. Obviously you do too or you wouldn't have gone with the red. Again, go with your first choice; it's usually the one that you'll like the most. Happy decorating !!

It was difficult to get a good picture of the curtains, but they are a deep red with a creamy yellow pattern, similar to the color of the wall they hang on. You are exactly right about changing paint if you don't love it and that's a great idea about trying it on the red wall first. I really do love color, but sometimes I think my rooms look disconnected because all of them are so different.

I have a sunroom off the living room that is a light light green (SW Livable Green), so again I am looking for a color that will tie in with that room as well. My living room curtains have a bit of green, red, blue and cream colors so I think I have several options. Thank you for the suggestion!!

Being as green will tie in with both the curtains and the sunroom, I think I'd go with a bold shade of green on what's now the red wall, making it an accent wall, and leave the other walls creamy yellow. You may find a small wall in the sunroom to paint with the same bold shade, bringing the two rooms together. Just my thought.

I didn't think of that. I bought paint today, so I'm going to get started. I will post after pics. Thank you!

I'm curious ... what color did you go with? Most people hate painting but I love it, especially when I can let my imagination loose. The basement in my last home was dingy looking when we bought it. The artificial lighting and taupe color all over reminded me of a funeral home. It needed brightening up and I went with a citrus color theme throughout.

One wall was Behr's Go-Go green (grass color), another wall was citrus yellow, yet another was orange and for a splash, here and there I put on lime green. The effect was astronomical and for the 10 years we lived there, everyone raved about the bold colors and that I had the nerve to do it. Have fun with whatever color scheme you've decided on.

Oh Wow! I would like to see pictures of your basement. Mine is yellow and red, and I did a rag rolling effect on one big wall. I am thinking to repaint this summer and would like to brighten it as well. I was thinking coastal colors---blue, aqua, white---but love the colors you mentioned. I might be a bit more brave in the basement.

Ha! As for the kitchen, I am going to try the gray green color. If is isn't terribly dark, I may paint it on a wall in the living room. Color doesn't scare me, its hating it after I paint and then having to paint again. Ha! Hopefully, will be able to start this week. Thank you for sharing!
