How and when did you get your pet?
Koneko's rescue story has been shared before. As a kitten she was living feral in a shed near two busy roads. My son captured her, brought her home, and worked hard on taming her.

What does your pet like to do for fun?
Koneko loves to watch bird videos. We discovered a collection of "Movies for Cats" on Amazon Prime. The videos are from the Smokey Mountains and you see all sorts of birds and other wildlife. As a Pacific NW girl, I'm always amazed at the bright red cardinals that don't live around here.

The first time we put a video on, she watched intently. She became very still and started crouching down, ready to pounce. After about 10 minutes, she attacked, hitting the television screen rather harder than we expected. Koneko is a very smart cat, probably because of her early hardships. She sat on our entertainment center trying to figure out where the birds went. She would walk behind the T.V and creep out in order to surprise them. After a few viewings, she seemed to realize they weren't really there, but her instincts sometimes get the best of her and she will bat at the birds on the screen.

I wake up before the rest of the house and often work in front of the television. Koneko has started to come out and sit expectantly in front of the TV, waiting for her "stories". She still watches, but she also comes over for pets and sometimes a bit of a tussle. My poor hand sometimes gets scratched from her sharp claws, but she tried to be gentle.

Do you have anything else to share about your pet?
Koneko is still pretty skittish around us and no one can pick her up except for my son. She is especially concerned about my husband and tends to dart under furniture when she sees him coming. She is getting more and more friendly with the rest of us and absolutely loves our older cat, Patton. Unfortunately, Patton is suffering from renal failure and a few other conditions so he isn't so excited to be around a frisky and playful kitten. They seem to have come to an understanding though as I catch them sleeping near each other often.
