Breed Description: The Kuvasz is large, solidly-built herding dog with a wedge-shaped head, large black nose and a wavy, white coat. This breed combines strength and speed with a noble demeanor and was developed specifically to guard flocks of sheep, not herd them. Naturally wary of strangers, the Kuvasz is always fiercely loyal and devoted to his flock-whether people or other animals.

Grooming: This breed that requires regular grooming and occasional bathing to keep the coat in good condition. Standard care for eyes, pads and nails. Ears should be cleaned and examined regularly.
Exercise Needs: This is a large breed is best suited to the country. Like other large breeds, the Kuvasz needs plenty of regular exercise each day to maintain his mental and physical health.
Temperament: This breed is intelligent, courageous and suspicious of strangers. The Kuvasz has a docile nature unless he perceives his flock is in danger. Bred to be independent, this breed can seem aloof and unaffectionate. The Kuvasz is easily trained and makes a playful pet and excellent guard dog. Obedience training and socialization are essential for this assertive breed. Although the Kuvasz is gentle with his "own" children, he may perceive all other humans and animals as potential threats and so should not be left unsupervised.
