I saw cute painted ladybugs on Pinterest and decided to make some. I live by a landscape/ mulch yard and bought stones the sizes I needed. I think you can buy rocks at hobby stores too.
A few tips: for the eyes I used Q-tips and it was gently pressed to make a circle, once dried I did the same with white to finish the eye. Once the body was painted, I used a black marker to line down the back and to make dots. I sprayed with clear lacquer since I will use them in the yard this spring.
Also, do you notice the stick man in the background? I am in the process of making more. Find branches that look like it has arms. I took some of my dog's fur and glued on for hair. I am going to make a group of these because we have a whimsical garden. This one I came up with myself.
