Landscaping for Curb Appeal?

We live in a cul-de-sac, in south Louisiana. We are looking to sell our home and want to landscape to improve the look. Our house has a red brick sack rub finish exterior. It's actually a really pretty house with three columns in front.

Keep it simple. Make sure you have your lawn neatly clipped. Make sure your lawn is watered, a green lawn looks nicer than one with brown spots or that is completely brown. Do not go overboard with the flowers, plants, and other 'flourishes'. It may look pretty in an open house showing, but it will become a burden to upkeep if you have many showings, and with a long hot southern summer coming up, it is more stress you would have to keep a clean, pleasing curb appeal.

So, simple and green, let the buyer see a blank canvas they can either keep as is, or decorate with their own design. Also, keep in mind, some people have allergies, and may be turned from paying attention to your lawnscape to getting out of there to alleviate the sting from allergies.
