A wooden Lane cedar chest.Looking for more information on my grandmother's cedar chest. I emailed the company and they said they can't give me any historical information on it since they do not keep anything.

One of photos you posted partially shows the serial number of your Lane cedar chest.
It is known that by this serial number, you can determine the production date. The same is written on the Lane furniture website: "You can read the serial number BACKWARDS to determine the production date. For example: serial number 753150 would have been produced on 05/13/57. Some chests may also have an extra digit which denotes the plant location. For example: serial number 2557121 would have been produced on 12/17/55 in plant #2."

Judging by the photo, the serial number of your Lane chest is 111530, but the first digits are hard to see. The serial number means the production date: March (last digits backwards 03) / 5 (day) / 1911 (year). The digit 1 - the plant location. But this cannot be. Lane didn't begin making cedar chests until 1912. Even if we assume that you have the serial number 141530 (it seems to me that the first and second digits are slightly further than the second and third), then it turns out 1914. But let's judge by the appearance of your chest. Does it look like chests made in 1914? No. It looks like the chests of the late 20s and early 30s. I found a chest made in 1927 that is almost identical to yours (see attached screenshot): instappraisal.com/.../lane-cedar-chest-76

I think there was a period when Lane added the serial numbers for some of chests not backwards. I found a few more Lane Cedar chests with serial numbers, which also cannot be read backwards (see attached screenshots) instappraisal.com/.../1930-lane-cedar-chest. Therefore, I think that the last two digits in your serial number represent the year of manufacture 1930. This is why it is similar to the one that was manufactured in 1927. I also decided to check in which years they applied this "Free Moth Insurance" promotion. This was in 1930 www.encyclopedia.com/.../lane-co-inc#:~:text=Lane%20began....

So you have Lane Cedar Chest 1930, the price is about $ 150.

Look for the serial number and read it backwards. It will tell you the month, day and year it was manufactured

Looking for information:
You will need the serial number that is printed on your chest to be able to find the information on when it was made.

Read the serial number in reverse to find the month/day and year.
If you can post a better full picture of your chest and insides as well as a picture of serial/model number, we may be able to help you.

Lane does not answer questions about their vintage cedar chests but you can check some of their FAQ and may find information that you need. Be sure to check question about replacing keys.

I did see the same chest on WorthPoint also but I do not like using their site as the only information provided is provided by the seller and they can state anything they wish about their items just as they do online all the time.

WorthPoint does not provide free information about the items so you cannot tell when it was posted for sale, what site it was posted on, did it sell? or any information about price.
And, as can be seen quite often, the seller quotes an incorrect date as well as other questionable information.
The only thing gained from this site is good pictures and the serial number (which could be the same -or near - as yours).
