I hit a stump with my John Deer lawn tractor. It immediately stopped. I moved the tractor and now it will turn over and act like it wants to start, but no luck. What should I do to repair it?

A piece may have slipped out of place or you might have broken your flywheel. If you want to self diagnose you'd have to remove the spark plug and drain the fuel to safely check underneath.
I would get hold of my local "John Deer" and talk to some one about your problem, if not locally then try the "John Deer" company itself.
Sounds like you broke a piece.
Yikes...sorry to hear you had an issue.
These are older, but I am banking on still pertinent discussions about about the same issue on several tractor forums...

You don't mention the model...my go to these days to fix things (since my beloved dad is gone) is YouTube. Here is a link to where I put in John Deere Tractor Repair...you can put your model in and fine tune the search even better.
