I just put in a new battery, but when I turn the key on I get nothing. The lights don't even go on. The battery is connected properly.

This could be an issue with your starter switch or a faulty cable on the mower that goes from the batter to the starter. You'll need to check the starter and the wiring on the chassis that is on the mower firewire on the left or right side. You can also try to use a screwdriver and jump start the mower at the solenoids and see if you can do this.
