When traveling, take all of your older underwear (the ones your mother warned you about in case you were in an accident). As you wear them, throw them away, thus allowing for room in your suitcase for the souvenirs.

Just curious as to how big your underwear is that it would take up so much room. Why not wash it out each night?
Often I do this in a puplic restroom, wrap in a facecloth put in a waterproof bag until a drying place turns up, best being the back window of a car.
