I just installed two lights in my bedroom closets. I disconnected the room's overhead light switch and connected the wires to route power up to the attic. I then cut into the wires that were going to the overhead light and installed a junction box in the attic. I ran a 12-3 cable back down to the wall switch that controls the bedroom's overhead light and connected the black and red to the switch. In the junction box I then connected the 12-3's black wire to the black, bringing power up to the attic. I then connected the red to the black that continued on to the overhead light.
Once I had everything connected, I turned the power back on and I am getting power running to every point, but the lights don't turn on.
What did I mess up?

If you have power everywhere, but the lights don't turn on, it could be that the neutral splice at the wall switch or in the attic box is bad. An electrician will be able to fix this for you.
