What would cause the light off button to not work? Had this Rainmate unit for three weeks and don't want the light on at night?

Wow! Only 3 weeks?
I'm sure you received a manual so check that first under troubleshooting to see if this is mentioned but if not go for your warranty on your unit - do not wait very long.
You have a new unit so you should immediately contact the support number listed on your paperwork and let them tell you how to fix it or replace it.
These units cost a lot of money so you should have protection from a defective unit.
If you bought it locally you may be able to return it to the store for someone to look at.
If you purchased it through Amazon then try to deal with the seller but contact Amazon if you have any problems.
I would contact the company immediately. Do not try to fix it yourself or you can risk voiding the warranty.
This was a free unit with no paperwork, no manual. They guy came to our home at 9am, on December 12th to do demo on the vac system.
If it was a legitimate deal then it should still have some sort of warranty but, if not, still contact the company and ask your question and also ask for a manual.
