I am just looking for some advice. A few months ago my living room ceiling light went off and because of the kind of very small bulbs we have been unable to change them. Suddenly last week it came on when I banged the ceiling, now it's happening to all of the upstairs ceiling lights. All seem to have blown, but if I bang the ceiling they will flicker or come back on. I am so confused. I was thinking it was my bulbs and I was having to constantly change them, but they do occasionally work!

Hi,
If the breaker is okay, and not in need of repair, then I would suspect it might be the light switch itself that needs repair. I would get an electrician to come out and give an estimate of what needs to be done. That would at least give you an idea of what you would have to spend to get it fixed.
Blessings,
Robyn
It seems that you have a loose connection. That is why the light works when you bang the ceiling. A handyman could fix this
We currently have lights occasionally working in our kitchen. It is because the lights are due for a change it's been many years since we last changed them.
If it's about time the lights are due, then it may be the light bulbs need to be changed soon.
If the lights have recently been changed and works only occasionally then it would have to be the wiring connections.
Yikes!! That is a bit unnerving!! I suggest the safety first approach and have a professional electrician check it out as it sounds like the banging is getting the connection to work which means something is loose, which could be a bad and dangerous thing!
Shop around and ask your friends for recommendations and see if you can get a discount for booking online.
Post back what you learn. Don't let this go too long!!! Electricity with loose connections can cause all sorts of issue!! Be SAFE!!
