The lights in 2 bedrooms not working. I turned the breaker off and back on and the lights went on for an instant then went off. I shut the breaker off and checked the switch for loose wiring.
If you have the right breaker and it is turned off the lights should never come on for a few seconds. There should be no electricity running through the wires that would allow your lights to come on when a breaker is shut off.
You will need a volt meter. Now test the positive and negative wires and see if you still have current running through them. If you do then you have shut off the wrong breaker. If you don't, then you'll need to replace the breaker at your box. There is a short in the breaker and more than likely it is burned. When you remove the breaker out of the box it will be easier to examine it.
You may have to upgrade the amps. These bedrooms may be on the same circuit and are shutting off because the circuit is overloaded.
