I am on several frugal and homesteading groups on FB and one of the owners alerted me to a site that offers free food, just pay S&H. It is fullcart.org (AKA Feeding The Children). They give away non-perishable foods, mainly pastas, rice and instant oatmeal.
I got the custom box which has a load of foods in it, as well as 4 apples or 2 sweet potatoes or 2 apples and a sweet potato (your choice). I paid $23 S&H and it came in the next day via FedEx. Often, there are codes for discounts on shipping. The foods are vacuum-sealed to help with getting everything in a box (if done by boxes and/or cans, the box would be extremely heavy).

Thank you for this information.
In my opinion you would get more food at a grocery store with $23. It is mostly pasta, and apples, which are not that expensive. I regularly shop Aldi, Walmart, and Dollar Tree. You can get a full pound of spaghetti noodles for $1. Hamburger helper is $1.22 at Walmart. Pinto beans, black beans, rice, and egg noodles are $1 at dollar tree for a full pound.
