Living Room Paint Color Advice

I have contemporary sofas (brown with beige on the upper part) and a big brown rug. I am going to paint my living room, but I want to keep a contemporary style. What colors should I use?

How about a teal color? I have a medium shade teal in my living room with beige couches and dark brown leather ottoman, dark end tables and large dark entertainment center. I made my curtains out of beige table cloths, added a multicolored stripe 4 feet off the floor using table runner (cut in half for 2 panels), then finished them off with a wide stripe of teal.

I hung them with drapery clip rings I found at Home Depot. I used a throw rug with beige background and celadon green, light teal, dark teal, brown, and burgundy interlaced circles. I can send picture later if you like. (05/07/2009)
